The copycat Reese’s Peanut Butter Cups are perfect for a snack, or add a plate of these delicious sweets to a party table, but make sure you keep some on hand when you are craving something sweet!  Kids and adults love them – they’re sure to be a big hit with your family and friends!

Variations:

Chocolate chips – we prefer to use milk chocolate chips as we think the flavor of the peanut butter cups is the closest to the real thing with the milk chocolate, but you can use what you have in your pantry – semi sweet chips, dark chocolate chips, or even chocolate melts will work. We also like the occasional white chocolate! I suggest higher grade chocolate, such as Ghiradelli, as it will provide a richer flavor of chocolate.

Peanut butter – yummy, smooth peanut butter is our favorite, but if you like a little crunch, use crunchy peanut butter instead.

Reese’s Pieces – I have thought about adding Reese’s Pieces to the peanut butter mixture! Let me know if you do in the comments below!

Storing your sweet treats!

The copycat Reese’s peanut butter cups can be stored at room temperature in an airtight container.  If your home is warm, you may want to keep them in the refrigerator to keep the chocolate from melting.

Personally, we keep ours in the freezer in a freezer-safe bag so they last a little longer!  And we love the taste of them 🙂

INGREDIENTS:

Powdered sugar – using this makes the peanut even sweeter, and gives it that powdery texture like a Reese’s Peanut Butter Cup

Peanut butter – creamy peanut butter creates a nice, smooth and creamy center.

Vanilla Extract – the pure flavoring; a real extract provides a stronger aroma than using imitation vanilla.

Milk chocolate chips – these make the perfect flavor for the coating in these copycat Peanut Butter Cups!  I used Ghiradelli chocolate as it’s a better and higher quality chocolate.  Feel free to use your favorite brand.

Vegetable oil – best to use vegetable oil for this recipe.

Combine the sugar, peanut butter, and vanilla in a mixing bowl until dough forms.

Set aside in the refrigerator while you melt the chocolate.

In a microwave-safe container, add the chocolate chips and oil. Microwave for 45 seconds. Remove and mix. If clumpy and not smooth, microwave in 15-second intervals while mixing between melting.

Mix until smooth.

In silicone muffin liners, add 1 tablespoon of melted chocolate. Tilt liners to coat the sides up the wall of the liner.

Remove the peanut filling and separate it into 10 balls. Flatten the balls into pucks and place them in the muffin liner on top of the chocolate.

Equally, top each cup with melted chocolate and tap smooth. Make sure cups are level and peanut is covered. Set aside to allow the chocolate to harden. Place in the refrigerator to speed the process up.

Remove cups from the liners and enjoy.

Items I used to make my Reese’s Peanut Butter Cup Copycats!

I love to use silicone for my molds! They are reusable and will save you money.

I used jumbo silicone molds for this specific recipe. Using the jumbo size, you’ll get 10 servings. Here are the molds I used:

You can use a smaller silicone mold to make 20 regular size peanut butter cups. I like these!

You will need a small mixing bowl for your peanut butter mixture.

To melt chocolate in the microwave, I love using a glass measuring jar. The handle doesn’t get hot, and works great to mix the chocolate together.

To mix the chocolate together, I suggest using a silicone whisk!
