Light, fluffy and delicious – this Air Fryer Popcorn is the perfect healthy snack!

Why should I cook popcorn in the Air Fryer?

I love fresh popcorn straight out of the Air Fryer! Before cooking my popcorn in the Air Fryer, I always bought those pre-packaged popcorn in a bag, and then cook it in my microwave. It was quick, convenient, and so much easier. But, I have that quick, convenience, and easy popcorn in my Air Fryer, but without all the chemicals in those microwave bags! Here is a great article from UCLA that shows why we should forgo microwave bag popcorn (https://www.uclahealth.org/news/eating-microwave-popcorn-increases-the-level-of-pfas-in-body#:~:text=But%20the%20FDA%20says%20they,of%20PFAS%20in%20their%20bodies.) – yikes!

This recipe makes plain popcorn – I need more flavor!

I got you! And I hear you! I love plain popcorn when I am trying to watch my calories as popcorn is a great healthy and filling snack! But somehow the perfect movie needs the perfect notch of flavor!

Sweet tooth:

My daughter and I love making chocolate covered popcorn! Melt almond bark (see below) or candy melts (see below – they come in so many fun colors!), and then pour over your bowl of popcorn! Mix together, and then lay out on parchment paper to allow the chocolate/ candy to harden and cool. If you want to take it up a notch, here are some additions to add while your chocolate is still wet in the bowl with your popcorn, and before transferring to the parchment paper:

S’mores

Add crushed up graham crackers, and marshmallows!

Cookies and cream

Throw in chopped Oreo cookies!

Rocky Road

Put in marshmallows and peanuts!

Unicorn

I made this for my daughter’s birthday party! I melted down 3 separate bowls of almond bark and dyed one batch pink, purple, and blue. After the popcorn was covered in white almond bark, I laid the popcorn on the parchment paper to dry, then drizzled over the popcorn pink, then purple, then blue! Came out so cute and colorful!

Savory:

After you have made your popcorn, these fun alternatives can be added:

Ranch:

Shake in ranch seasoning powder!

Butter:

Melt butter and pour it over your freshly popped popcorn! Classic!

Ingredients:

Popcorn kernels – You want to get high quality, name brand plain popcorn kernels for the best flavor. I prefer Orville Redenbacher’s brand.

Oil – Canola oil is what I used to cook my popcorn in the Air Fryer. I tried other oils such as vegetable oil, and my popcorn seemed too oily.

Salt to taste – I prefer using kosher salt as it is coarser. But table salt will do just fine!

Preheat the air fryer to 375°f. Coat the popcorn kernels in the oil. Shape some aluminum foil into a bowl in the air fryer. Add the kernels and cook at 375°f for 8 minutes.

Remove the popcorn from the air fryer basket and salt to taste. You can add popcorn butter and or flavored powders to kick it up a notch.

Enjoy!

Items I used to make my Air Fryer Popcorn!

If you are searching for a new air fryer, this is the one our family has! It works well, is an 8 quart with a great size for our family of 4, and has a viewing window.

Aluminum foil to line your Air Fryer basket.

And for those family movie nights, here are some cute popcorn containers! I love that they are reusable!
