Whether you are serving it for game day, holiday celebrations or parties, this Air Fryer Spinach Dip the perfect party appetizer.

This air fryer spinach dip is the perfect crowd-pleaser!  This spinach dip can be made ahead of time so you can enjoy all the festivities with everyone else.  Whether you are serving it for game day, holiday celebrations or parties, it is the perfect party appetizer.  For a large crowd, this recipe can easily be doubled!

What is the best way to serve this Air Fryer Spinach Dip?

My favorite way to serve spinach dip is in a bread bowl.  Cut off the top of the bread bowl, hollow out the loaf by cutting along the edge and pull out chunks of bread, then fill the bread bowl with the spinach dip.  The chunks of bread can be cut into bite-sized pieces to serve with the dip.  Chips, crackers, thinly-sliced French bread and tortilla chips can also be served with the dip.

Your local grocery store should carry and sell bread bowls, or if you would like to make your own, try this recipe! It’s easy and no knead! Click for the recipe here!

Do you serve Spinach Dip hot or cold?

This air fryer spinach dip recipe can be made to serve cold, or cooked in the air fryer to serve warm – either way, it is sure to be a hit with your family and friends!  Taking less than 20 minutes to prepare, this recipe yields 3 cups of deliciousness!  And it is so easy to make!!  If you choose to serve it warm by cooking it in the air fryer, there is very little clean-up (one of the reasons I love using my air fryer!).

Here are some Spinach Dip healthy alternatives?

For a healthier spinach dip, use low-fat cream cheese, low-fat sour cream and decrease the shredded cheese by 1/3.  Serve with celery, raw cauliflower, cucumber slices, etc.

What can I add to create some variety?

Bacon – add in 1/2 cup cooked/crumbled bacon

Mushrooms – 1/2 cup chopped mushrooms

Sun-dried tomatoes – 1/4 cup would add flavor and color

Artichoke hearts – add 1/2 cup finely chopped artichoke heart

Can I prepare this Spinach Dip in advance?

Mix all ingredients together, then store in the refrigerator in an airtight container for up to 2 days; bake right before serving

Spinach dip is great for leftovers!

Spinach dip can be stored in an airtight container for up to 3 days in the refrigerator; serve cold or reheat before serving

Can I freeze this Spinach Dip?

It can be frozen but it is not recommended as the freezing process changes the texture of the overall dip. Sour cream is an emulsion and will lose its smooth creamy structure upon thawing.

If you do freeze it, put the dip in freezer-safe bags, squeeze out the excess air, and lay flat in the freezer.  Thaw overnight in the refrigerator before serving.

Try these other ways to prepare this Spinach Dip!

Oven

Preheat your oven to 350 degrees.  Combine all the ingredients in the recipe, except save a little mozzarella cheese to sprinkle on the top of the dip before baking.  Bake the dip in an oven-safe container for 30 minutes.  The melted cheese should be bubbling and have a golden glow.

If you made the recipe ahead of time, allow the dip to sit on the counter for 5-10 before baking, then add 5-10 minutes to the baking time.

Slow Cooker

Add all of the ingredients together in the crock pot, making sure to stir well so the spinach is mixed in.  Cook on high for 2 hours, then serve.

Ingredients

Ingredients:

Cream cheese – cream cheese should be softened before starting this recipe to ensure it blends well with the other ingredients

Sour cream – You can choose to cut calories here with a fat-free option or leave as is.

Spinach – fresh or frozen; Frozen spinach will add moisture to the dip if not dried after thawing.

Minced garlic – minced or mashed garlic imparts the strongest level of flavor to any dish it is added to.

Mozzarella cheese – mozzarella adds that cheesy texture while being lighter in lactose and fat for dairy heavy dishes.

Parmesan cheese – this hard cheese rounds out any dish with a touch of savory notes.

Salt/pepper

Dill – has a mild, spicy taste

In a mixing bowl, whip the cream cheese and sour cream using a hand mixer or stand mixer. Whip until smooth and creamy.

Add the remaining ingredients and mix well until spinach is evenly distributed throughout the dip.

Serve dip cold now if desired.

To cook and melt the dip, place the dip in an 8” pie pan and evenly smooth the dip.

Place pan in the air fryer basket and cook at 350°f for 6 minutes.

Remove and serve the dip with crackers, chips, or pulled bread.

Items I used to make my Air Fryer Spinach Dip!

Spinach Dip is the dish that keeps giving and makes a great leftover! Warm it up or dish it cold, and even spread it on your morning bagel. Stores up to 4 days in the refrigerator in an airtight container. These are my favorite glass containers! They keep it air tight for storage and looks great as you dish from it.

As mentioned before, you do not need an Air Fryer for this recipe. However, if you are searching for a new air fryer, this is the one our family has! It works well, is an 8 quart with a great size for our family of 4, and has a viewing window.

I used my KitchenAid to mix up my cake mix, frosting, and cream from the cookies together. But it’s not just for the sweets….it’s for the savory too! This is the one I used to mix up all my ingredients for this Spinach Dip. If you don’t have a stand mixer, and hand mixer will do just fine!

This 9 inch pie pan fits perfect in our Air Fryer.

Here is a list of pie pans if you need a pie pan that is bigger or smaller, depending on the size of your Air Fryer basket.

This bread bowl recipe is super easy to follow and make and it provides not only a serving dish that’s eco friendly, but comes with dipping bread.
