If you love Starbucks’ Cookie Crumble Frappuccino, you are going to want to try this copycat recipe! There is nothing better than getting to find a way to try a favorite drink in your own home, and this copycat recipe will not disappoint!

The main ingredients are coffee, milk, chocolate and cookies, and only takes a few minutes to make.  In fact, it takes less time to make the Cookie Crumble Frappuccino at home than it does to sit in line at the Starbuck’s drive thru!  Not only will it save you time by making your own frappe at home, but it will also save you money!

What does this drink taste like?

The Cookie Crumble Frappuccino tastes like a chocolate Oreo milkshake with coffee added in. It’s a great dessert-like drink that combines coffee, chocolate, cookies and milk and then is topped with a dollop of whipped cream!  Make it at home and share it with your family and friends.  They will love the drink and you will become their favorite barista!

A bit of history:

Starbucks first introduced the Cookie Crumble Frappuccino in 2012, and then took it off the menu in 2015.  Even though it wasn’t on the menu, customers still ordered this favorite drink as a secret menu item.  Lucky for all of us, Starbucks officially brought back the Cookie Crumble Frappuccino in the spring of 2019, and it has remained a favorite on the menu since then.

Variations:

Milk – I prefer whole milk for the creaminess it adds to the drink, but feel free to use any milk you prefer. You can use coconut milk, oat milk or soy milk if you prefer.

Cookies – Instead of Oreo’s, feel free to use the store brand, chocolate wafers or chocolate chip cookies.

You can make this a skinny drink! Here’s how!

Instead of whole milk, use unsweetened vanilla almond milk or fat free cow’s milk.

Instead of the chocolate syrup, try sugar free chocolate syrup.

Use No Sugar chocolate chips instead of the regular chocolate chips.  You’ll still get a great flavor but without the extra calories.

Use less Oreo’s.  Add only 1 or 2 to get the same texture and flavor.

Use sugar-free or light whipped cream to garnish your drink.  You’ll still get that same great flavor but without the added fat and you’ll save on calories.

Ingredients:

Chocolate cream-filled cookies – any brand will do, but our favorites are Oreos!

Espresso, chilled – For the easiest and quickest option, you can use instant espresso. For my espresso, we love using the Moka Pot! It’s an authentic, Italian alternative to having a very expensive espresso machine on your countertop. And as a minimalist, I love anytime I can remove a large item from my kitchen counters!

Milk – I used whole milk as it adds a thicker, creamier texture, but any will do.  If you prefer dairy free, use coconut milk, almond milk or soy milk.

Chocolate syrup – using syrup increases the chocolate flavor.  My favorite is Hershey’s chocolate syrup.

Chocolate – chopped or chips – Chop into small pieces or use chocolate chips – I prefer Ghiradelli brand as it’s a high quality chocolate.

Ice

Whipped cream – garnish the top of your frappuccino with your favorite canned whipped cream or with Cool Whip

Remove the cream from the cookies and set aside. In a blender or food processor, crush the cookies into crumbs. Set aside some for garnish.

Add the coffee, milk…

…1 tablespoon of chocolate syrup, and 1 tablespoon of chocolate chips.

Blend until smooth.

Add the ice and blend until the ice is completely chopped and incorporated.

Set the mixture in the freezer for 1 hour to chill and solidify slightly.

In a glass, drizzle 1 tablespoon of chocolate syrup along the side wall of the glass, letting it drip to the bottom. Add the remaining chocolate chips then pour in the frappe. Add some more syrup to the top, then garnish with with whipped cream, and cookie crumbs and drizzle with more syrup. Enjoy!

For my espresso, we love using the Moka Pot! It’s an authentic, Italian alternative to having a very expensive espresso machine on your countertop. And as a minimalist, I love anytime I can remove a large item from my kitchen counters! This is the one we used for our espresso.

They also have generic brands from Amazon that have raving reviews, and is half the price!
