Attention, coffee drinkers!  Iced bulletproof coffee is a great way to start your day as it provides more energy and helps you focus better than a regular cup of coffee will.

What exactly is bulletproof coffee?

Bulletproof coffee is also called butter coffee or keto coffee, but whatever name you want to give it, it is a powerhouse in a cup.  This type of coffee is used by people wanting to lose weight, especially on particular diets such as kept, low carb, or intermittent fasting programs.

Can I drink this coffee hot as well as iced?

While you can drink bulletproof coffee hot, my preference is to drink it cold.  It only takes 5 minutes to make the night before so you can have iced coffee ready to go the next morning.B

Bulletproof coffee is keto, intermittent fasting, and low carb!

If you prefer not to use butter in your recipe, MCT oil or Ghee are good choices, too.  MCT oil is medium chain triglyceride oil used as a diet aid.  MCT is a concentrated oil from coconuts, but is flavorless.  It helps to send the body into a ketosis fat-burning mode.  Ghee is the Hindi word for “fat”, and is more concentrated in fat than butter.

Here are some variations to this bulletproof coffee recipe!

Peppermint:  1/4 teaspoon of peppermint extract and 2 teaspoons cacao powder

Peanut Butter:  add 1-2 Tablespoons peanut butter to the coffee – mix well

Vanilla:  add 1/2 teaspoon of pure vanilla extract

Milk:  you can add any type of milk you might normally use – regular, coconut or almond milk to make your coffee creamier.

If you want iced bulletproof coffee, but not watered down, try this hack!

Freeze black coffee in an ice cube tray, and add cubes to your bulletproof coffee.  The coffee ice cubes will cool down your drink without watering it down.

Ingredients:

Strong, hot coffee – your favorite coffee that you like to use at home will do. This one is our favorite!

Heavy cream – heavy cream is 36% fat, which helps in ketosis.

Butter – I would suggest using unsalted butter for this specific recipe. If you don’t have butter, MCT oil, coconut oil or ghee can be substituted.

Cinnamon – is added here for its flavor and fragrance.

Monk fruit sweetener – natural, zero-calorie sweetener and is 100+ times sweeter than sugar.

Collagen is a protein that helps with healthy joints and skin elasticity. Also helps with hair, skin, and nails, and dissolves in cold or hot liquids. This is my favorite brand!

Earlier in my post, I mentioned the hack about freezing your coffee in ice cubes to prevent your coffee watering down if you choose to make this bulletproof coffee iced. These are my favorite ice trays!
